Description

The CHI Brass Jacobs 1 is a U.S. copy of the very first Helleberg mouthpiece Arnold Jacobs ever purchased when he was a student and used more than any other mouthpiece throughout his career. A mouthpiece he loved enough to have had two copies of it made in the 1980’s stamped Arnold Jacobs 1 that are both owned today by the author of Arnold Jacobs Song and Wind. This mouthpiece was thought to have been lost in the early 1990’s but was recently given to CHI brass by a prominent Jacobs’ student that had ended up with it in a series of events that is too long a story to recount here but measures and plays the same as the two fermented copies and has led to us being able to make this mouthpiece available to all tubists. The CHI version features a modern standard shank with other shank options available and a slightly heavier weight for modern tastes.
